To help control the spread of COVID-19, the Harris-Elmore & Genoa Libraries have modified some services and policies. Thank you for helping us stop the spread of the coronavirus. We look forward to resuming our normal operations and policies in the future.

Here are some of the changes you can expect at your next visit to the Library.

Elmore & Genoa Locations are OPEN with limited hours:  

Monday            10am-5pm           Friday            10am-5pm             

Tuesday            10am-6pm          Saturday       10am-2pm

Wednesday      10am-5pm          Sunday           Closed

Thursday       10am-6pm         

Everyone over the age of two that enters the building is required to wear a face covering.  If you do not have one, we will provide a disposable mask.  If you are unable to wear one, then please take advantage of our curbside services.

  • Browse the shelves & check out items

  • Use public computers

  • Use printers, copiers, scanners, fax

  • Use quiet study rooms (no more than 3 people per room)

  • Bring family or friends, but please limit your group to under 10 people

  • Attend our virtual programs and pick up Grab n Go items

  • Use our free wifi

  • Utilize free notary services

  • Get items laminated

  • Borrow hotspots or chromebooks

  • Continue to use Curbside Services if you prefer

  • Continue to take advantage of our digital resources through Hoopla, Libby and Overdrive 24/7

  • Admit anyone not wearing a face covering

  • Provide access to our meeting rooms

  • Offer toys, games, puzzles, for children

  • Offer access to gaming systems

  • Offer in person programming (unless socially distanced and outdoors)

  • Admit more then 20 people in the library at one time

  • Admit children under 16 without an adult present

  • Allow food or beverages in the library

  • Utilize both entrances.  Please use the parking lot entrances until further notice

  • Accept book donations at this time


  • Wear a face covering while inside the library (masks are provided if needed)

  • Wear your face covering over your nose and mouth

  • Maintain 6 ft. distancing

  • Refrain from eating or drinking while inside the library

  • Place ALL returned materials in the black bins at the entrance (do not return items to the front desk)

  • Please enter and exit only through the parking lot entrance 

  • Keep children with you at all times

  • Be wearing face coverings

  • Provide disposable masks for those that need them

  • Quarantine all returned items for 3 days 

  • Sanitize all used items and surfaces after use by staff or the public as recommedend  by the CDC

  • Provide hand sanitizer

  • Remove unnecessary furniture and equipment to promote social distancing

  • Monitor library occupancy levels

  • Provide curbside services

  • Provide online chat reference

  • Checkstaff temperatures daily and staying home if not feeling well

  • Temporarily limit library hours


There are several ways that you can use our curbside services at the library.


  • Reserve items you want using our ONLINE CATALOG

  • Use our online chat feature at the bottom of the screen to talk directly to our librarians for questions or to pick out materials for pick up

  • Try our CLICK & COLLECT feature on our Library App (found in the App Store oar Google Play)

  • Call the library 419.862.2482 (Elmore) or 419.855.3380 (Genoa) to reserve items and let us know when you are ready for pick up

  • Reserve a time and date on the Curbside portion of our website

    We will check out your requested items and bag them up, then bring them directly to your vehicle.


The Harris-Elmore Public Library and the Genoa Branch Library have made it a priority to make both libraries as safe as possible for our patrons.  The Library was the recipient of a C.A.R.E.S Act Grant that allowed us to make changes to both libraries to promote safety measures within the library.  We have purchased the following items:

  • Modular Ionization Air Purification Devices in our HVAC systems 

  • Touch Free Water Fountains (with bottle refillers)

  • Touch Free Motion Sensor Entry Doors (Genoa Branch only)

  • Door Sensors to measure building occupancy

  • Motion Sensor Hand Sanitizer Stands

  • Disposable Masks

  • Electrostatic Disinfectant Sprayers

  • UV Sanitizing Wands

  • Plexiglass Sneezeguards
