Library of Things

Funded by a LSTA Grant from the State Library and the Institute of Museum and Library Services

 

Library of Things (or Beyond Books) is a collection of non-traditional library items that covers a wide range of topics, from arts/ crafts to home equipment/ tools and more!

 

The Harris-Elmore and Genoa Libraries are dedicated to supporting our communities by offering unique opportunities for patrons. Whether you need to borrow a tool for a personal project, try out a new electronic before buying one yourself, or add some pizzazz to your next get-together, the library has you covered!

Looking to build up your garden, or add some flowers for décor? Both Elmore and Genoa offer a free seed catalog for our patrons! These seed collections are seasonal, and inventory can not be guaranteed. Up to six seed packets can be taken at a time, and donations are appreciated.

You can find Elmore's Seed catalog by the Local History Room entrance.

Who can check out a Library of Things item?

The Borrower must be over 18 years of age and be in good standing at the library. This includes having no lost items or accrued fines of over $5 on an account. The library reserves the right to refuse service to anyone who abuses equipment or is repeatedly late in returning Library of Things items.

How long are items checked out?

Each item is checked out for 7 days and will automatically renew once unless there are holds on it.

Do I need a Harris-Elmore & Genoa Public Libraries card to check out an item?

You can check these items out with any valid library card, but you need a Harris-Elmore & Genoa (Branch) Public Libraries card to place an item on hold.

Can I put a hold on these items?

You can place a hold on an item with your library card. Find the item in our catalog, or call and ask to have an item placed on hold for you.

How do I return an item from the Library of Things?

Please return the item to the home location (i.e. Elmore items to Elmore and Genoa items to Genoa) up at the circulation desk.

Items may not be returned via the book drop.
